Pool fun

My great niece Mia spent the afternoon with us.  Avery took her to the pool to have some fun with her underwater camera.  She also took her surfboard and taught her to paddle and stand up on it!  They had a great time!

Welcome Ryder

Yesterday I got to meet Ryder, the most gorgeous male fawn doberman. He is 8 months old but acts like a goofy wild teenager!  Ryder was running back and forth, here and there, enjoying all the attention we were giving him.  He belongs to my friend Debby and her husband Jim.  When I asked her how he got his name she told me that when they picked him up from the breeder he immediately took to the back of their truck and went to sleep.  He was such a good "rider" that she chose that name.

This old man...

Driving around Houston I see some really strange people in cars next to me.  You could probably say that about most cities.  I always have a camera with me whether it is my iPhone or Canon 50D.  This was an old man that pulled up to the red traffic light.  I had enough time to snap a few shots off before he looked my way.

Looking back at some drawings I had made in my art journals, I found this picture that I made last year.  They look similar!

Everything but the kitchen sink...

An idiom is a figure of speech that does not have the obvious presented meaning.  This is “everything but the kitchen sink”…

Trees

TREES
by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)
 THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Visual thinking...

Photography is a passion of mine.  I believe it is because I am a visual learner.  I take a mental snapshot of everything that I see even if I do not have my camera with me.  It is like blinking your eyes to embed an image in your mind.
I remember my trip to Israel back in 1987.  The minute I stepped off the plane my camera broke.   I couldn't even purchase a disposable back then to replace it.  I was stuck.  That is when I tried really hard to remember everything I saw.

Currently I am shooting with an iphone and a Canon 50D.  I would love to upgrade to a full frame camera.
